As an early user of Twine for a project that I was developing, I'm offering those that have Twines a free upgrade for your Twine. My product is a HVAC filter monitor which you can read more about on our website (www.airflow1.com). The CFM-GM Clogged Filter Monitor has an option to connect directly to the breakout board for Twine, you then set rules to send yourself a text message when the switch closes to check your air filter.

I've had this running now for over a year and it works great!

Sorry for informing everyone about it here and on other discussion channels but hope you take the time to at least see what else the Twine can do!

The last two days I've randomly had problems getting to the twine.cc website to monitor my twine moisture sensor at my unoccupied condo. Last night I noticed (when I could FINALLY get through to the website) that my twine was reporting WET. I never received an email or text alert- probably because the website was down or unreachable at the time of the report. I think supermechanical should at least be monitoring the condition of their web host and notify users when they have known outages or issues. Thank goodness I'm checking the website every day or my water leak could have become a every expensive flood. Twine saved me in this case - but I would have preferred to know via the instant text and email it sends rather than hours later when the website was again reachable.
Added info, I tried to reach the website via 3 different ISP's - my home network on Comcast, my 4g data provider T-Mobile and also my other 4g provider Clear Networks. None could reach the twine url or ping it.

Here is a section from the email I was sent just recently -

As a Twine owner who's had problems getting their carrier to accept text messages from Twine, I wanted to let you know that we’ve developed an alternative. Previously, we were using the email-to-SMS gateway that carriers usually provide, but while free, it's proven unreliable.

We strive to make Twine’s experience as good as it can be, so we've added paid accounts in order to purchase "real" SMS (and voice calls that let your Twine speak what you type as a notification) which will work reliably with all carriers!

Learn more about the paid account upgrade at: https://twine.supermechanical.com/plus - it's pay-as-you-go, but if you aren't happy with it after trying it, we'll give you a refund for the account. Just let us know within the first month. Bonus: All texts and calls will come from the same number now, so you can save your Twine as a contact!

If the free SMSs are working for you, you'll still be able to send them using the email-based method (you'll just set it up in an email notification).

Continued in comment below

It is now almost exactly 7 days since I received the "low battery" warning for my Twine, and it is still happily chugging along, showing 2.62 V. I believe in caution, especially in mission-critical situations, but I do think that for routine use the low voltage trigger level is set too high (it would be nice if users were able to set this level, based on the importance of what they are monitoring).
I will continue to let the Twine run, monitoring it every few hours (but not overnight), and see roughly at which point it shuts down.
Will keep you posted!

Several times during the day that my twine stops reporting for up to 90+ minutes at a time. WTF?
This device is not reliable at all. I can not replicate this failure.
The unit is about 30 - 40 feet (10 meters) away from my router.
I just put in fresh duracell batteries (which only last about 2 weeks+/-)
I find myself constantly wasting my time by checking to see if it is still connected. (It was SUPPOSED to SAVE me time)
I do not get satisfactory answers from email customer support.

WHY CAN'T THIS WORK AS PROMISED???
I am VERY frustrated!!!

As soon as I put the batteries in my twine, my local wireless network gets extremely flaky. None of the laptops in my house can hold on to a wireless connection for very long, and general internet responsiveness goes in the toilet. As soon as I take the batteries out again, everything returns to normal. I do have the twine configured to connect to my wireless network, and I do see updates from it on the web site.

Anyone else having this problem? It makes the twine completely unusable for me.

Thanks!
