Like others in this forum I'm not amused by the new SMS pay per month model. Clear that they need to earn money but I don't think it's the appropriate model for this community.

However making use of IFTTT.com does the same for you, but for free (at least in the US and for some other providers worldwide). Simply make twine to send a mail to IFTTT and create a receipt launching a SMS.

How do I attach an external wifi antenna?

I'm trying to use my TWINE in my garage, but my wifi signal is too weak there, so I'd like to attach an external wifi antenna. (Attaching a USB cable, as some people have done, didn't help.) I see that the circuit board has what appears to be an attachment point for an antenna, but I'm not sure where to get a compatible antenna cable and connector.

Has anyone succeeded in installing an external antenna, and if so, did it help, and where did you get the cable?

Not sending out vibration alerts

I'm having trouble with my twine sending out vibration alerts. It seems it only wants to do it when I update the rules....then it no longer sends alerts out for vibration. I have my sensitivity set to to well under what that actual vibration is. I have it set to trigger after 1 second of vibration and it untriggers after 100 seconds. Suggestions?

Im trying to find a simple PHP script with db possibileties to logg HTTP requests to my twine.

Id like it to send a temperature variable to it every hour and for it to logg it.

Im having a hard time finding a script like this available, any ideas?

Is anyone else have problems with the website, I'm unable to set rules, they just wont save. My Twine also lost connectivity for about 12 hours.

Can you please put up a FAQ's page?

It seems that many of the questions posted in the discussions could be summarised quite easily into a FAQ's section. I'd expect that would save a lot of workload for you answering the same questions. And it should be a pretty simple thing to incorporate to your web page. It would also simplify peoples searches if they can find official answers quickly, rather than sifting through opinions.

Changed Routers and Twine Stops Talking

As an early user of Twine for a project that I was developing, I'm offering those that have Twines a free upgrade for your Twine. My product is a HVAC filter monitor which you can read more about on our website (www.airflow1.com). The CFM-GM Clogged Filter Monitor has an option to connect directly to the breakout board for Twine, you then set rules to send yourself a text message when the switch closes to check your air filter.

I've had this running now for over a year and it works great!

Sorry for informing everyone about it here and on other discussion channels but hope you take the time to at least see what else the Twine can do!

My twine was working great under battery power. Then I plugged it in using a micro USB leftover from an old cell phone. The white light comes on when I plug it in (for a second) but the twine is no longer communicating with the router and the dashboard says it hasn't heard from it. Any tips?

What url's does twine need access to. A bit more info about how it works..?

Hello, in order to get the network manager to allow our twine access to the internet he needs to know what ports etc it uses (found that in another help topic) and also what urls it's communicating with. I'm finding it hard to get this information, and couldn't see any info on the web.

When setting up the device, it's talking directly to my machine, so that's fine.

1) When I'm programming it (adding twines to the device) it seems to be blocked ( starts fine then disappears) so I'm guessing it needs access to twine.cc, right? Or is the client code communicating directly to the twine over the network rather than the internet?
(EDIT: See from someone else's post that it goes via the internet for this bit so I'll need to give it access to twine.cc for sure)

2) Further more once the twine is programmed up is it then independent of twine.cc posting directly to twitter.com or does it send things to twine.cc where the request is processed (eg the tweet is changed slightly to avoid repetition.. I'm guessing that doesn't happen on the device or does it?)

Any help you can provide about what domains it accesses would be great!

Bug with magswitch HTTP requests

This is pretty easy to reproduce with the help of RequestBin (http://requestb.in/), an online webhook tool.

I made a temp RequestBin and checked out what happens if I close my magswitch.

Notice that the "m" value is literally [open/closed]. It should be either open or closed!

Why won't my Twine work?

It only worked for a day and now I can't do anything with it. When I flip it over the light either flashes once or stays on for a maximum of 4 seconds and isn't detectable as a wifi network. Is this easy to sort or just a crap item?

Rules display is weird today

When I went to my rules display today, every "when" condition shows "WHEN tzoffset" instead of the real condition. They still seem to work.

I figured out, that my http-request always tell me its 25°C but the e-mails send out state the "real" temperature...

Is there a way to delete a twitter account?

I created a test twitter account and verified everything was working the way I wanted it to, and now added a 2nd twitter account but I am unable to delete the original twitter account. I was able to de-authorize access on the twitter side, but on the twine side the account is still there and my 2nd (new main account) is listed in the drop down. I want to remove my first account created. Any way to currently do that?

Seems like every time that I change and update the programming every action gets executed for every condition (so I get a bunch of emails and SMSs).
Its helpful because it acknowledges that the Twine received the updated program, but its also a nuisance because of how many messages there are.
I assume that this is a known "feature" and is being worked for the next version?

Notifications stopped working

Hi folks...

I've got a Twine doing duty as a remote sump pump monitoring tool. Its happy connected to the wireless network and the Twine dashboard tells me its checked in regularly. A couple weeks ago, we changed the batteries and ever since, it seem stop have stopped sending notifications of any sort. The dashboard looks right... temperature ad orientation look right and the moisture sensor is showing dry.

I'm using an AllThingsSpeak api call to graph the cycles of the sump pump (simple shake test).. pressing the "test url" button does generate a blip on the graph so I know that part is working.

The sump has never NOT run at least once a day in 16 years so I would be astonished if it hasn't really cycled at least once in the last couple weeks. Notifications are setup to send both an email and graph the incident.

I did notice that my rules page looks wonky.. I have no idea what "ZLxvleTK" is ... Any ideas ?

Might I suggest making the external port do A to D? Would REALLY open up the options. For example light level not just light or dark.

Is there anything that can clear out the rules? For example, going through the twinesetup.com process? What about removing the batteries (or dead batteries) for an extended period?

How do I tell if there are rules saved in the Twine's memory?

I'm trying to figure out if the reason rules aren't sending me email notifications is because the Twine's memory got wiped. For now I guess the only thing I can do is to keep re-saving the rules to my Twine.

Monitoring temp in cooler outside

We just had my daughters birthday party and have an excess of food and a small fridge. Fortunately it's cold outside. So I loaded up the cooler with the excess food ans am using Twine to watch that it doesn't freeze. I figure the cooler should keep the cold out as well as it keeps the cold in. Twine is there in case I'm wrong.

Hi, I connected my twine with a breakout board to my home domotica system. I made a rule when breakout board is closed for one second then twitter 'closed for one second). I made another rule when breakout board is closed for 5 seconds then TWITTER 'closed for 5 second's. Now when I close the breakout board for 5 seconds i get both TWEETS. I can't figure out how to make the rules with the AND comment so that I can get different TWEETS for different events in my home. Is it possible? Can anyone give me an example of how I should make the rule?

Establishing a connection when wi-fi is down.

Another wi-fi device on the market had a problem when there was a power failure and the device continued to poll the router trying to connect and eventually depleted its battery, preventing it from connecting after power was restored. Have the twine designers thought about this?

I suggest that in the case of longer than expected delays in establishing a connection, twine should switch to making less frequent attempts to connect, perhaps in a progressive fashion. This mode would be suspended when a connection was reestablished, or by flipping twine over.

Cloud Shield Voltage

Rules disappeared?

I logged in tonight to check my rules as I wasn't receiving emails about the humidity sensor and vibration, and all my rules have gone, the temperature changed back to F, and my vibration threshold went back to 1000g(default??)

Any one else had the same?
